OUR FALL MUSICAL IS GUYS AND DOLLS!

Picture
Start getting ready for Fall as the critically acclaimed Royal Oak High School Drama Club tackles and another highly touted and much loved musical "Guys and Dolls".  We will be looking for students to audition for parts the week after "The Raven Rally" with casting taking place on September 12th and 13th.
Not an actor?  No problem.  The Drama Club needs you!! Work Costumes, Make Up, Set, Backstage, Audio, Publicity (including Artists, Graphics, Video and Website).   You'll be a full member of the ROHS Drama Club, which means invites to the events, parties and your name in the program!!

If you're not familiar with Guys and Dolls, here's the story:  All the hot gamblers are in town, and they're all depending on Nathan Detroit to set up this week's incarnation of "The Oldest Established Permanent Floating Crap Game in New York"; the only problem is, he needs $1000 to get the place. Throw in Sarah Brown, who's short on sinners at the mission she runs; Sky Masterson, who accepts Nathan's $1000 bet that he can't get Sarah Brown to go with him to Havana; Miss Adelaide, who wants Nathan to marry her; Police Lieutenant Brannigan, who always seems to appear at the wrong time; and the music/lyrics of Frank Loesser, and you've got quite a musical.
Includes the songs: Fugue for Tinhorns, "Luck Be a Lady", "Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat"

ROHS Drama Club to perform at Arts Beats and Eats on Labor Day Weekend

Picture
The details are not all worked out yet, but the ROHS Drama Club is booked to perform between acts one day at the "Cultural Stage" in the Parking Lot at Jimi's.  Look for some musical numbers, student written and directed One Act plays and scenes from some of our past successes.  Stay tuned to this website and our FaceBook page as the date gets closer for details!!

This will give us a chance to make good on the "Outdoor Performance" we promised at the One Act Festival!!

Royal Oak High School Drama Club
Inaugural “One Act” Festival a huge success!
Local students write, direct and perform 5 One Act plays

The first annual Royal Oak High School Drama Club One Act Festival was a huge success.  Although weather forced us indoors, it didn't dampen the enthusiasm of our actors and directors.  It looks like this going to be a great ongoing tradition.

The show was moved to the auditorium and started with Open to Interpretation an interpretation of Hansel (Calvin Brown) and Gretel (Hannah Weilgat) that was directed by Madison Ozdych.  Next up was Netherblight Night, written and directed by Jack Bennett featuring Jacob Walbridge, Omar Romolino, Camden Barnes, Calvin Brown, Hannah Wielgat and Erin Foster about a game of Dungeons and Dragons with a surprise ending.  The one woman show Costumes Rumpus, written and directed and starring Ellen Stachowicz about a slacker costume director followed.  Memes from the internet came to life in I Didn't Meme To, written and directed by Max Sanders and starring Chris Wagman, Meaghan Lynch, Matt Harmon, Bobby Daratony, Kristina Samborski, Calvin Brown and Hannah Wielgat.  The final one act was an amazing troupe performance of a modern adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, written by Frannie Sheppard Bates and co-directed by Hannah Weilgat and Bobby Dartony.  The entire Shakespear play was told in language we could all understand, and laugh at, in just under 20 minutes, featuring Max Sanders, Kristina Samborski, Madison Ozdych, Chris Wagman, Kara Barbieri, Matt Miller, Abby Harbourne, Isaac G.C., Jack Bennett, Ellen Stachowicz, Matt Harmon, Meaghan Lynch, Mike Miller, Steven Mitchell and Abby Bailey.

After watching the talent on stage, back stage and in the scripts, it was easy to see why the ROHS Drama Club is critically acclaimed!!  We can't wait to see what they have up their sleeve next year!
